GAP's Census Project seeks to locate, identify, and tell the stories of nonhuman great apes. Through this project, we have succeeded in finding thousands of chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans and gorillas.  Making this data available to the entire world will help give nonhuman great apes the individuality they deserve, and it will challenge those who currently believe they are entitled to own, abuse or otherwise oppress these individuals.
